Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai receives 20 Swiss businesses to seek investment opportunities

Deputy PM Hoàng Trung Hải on Monday received a delegation of 20 Swiss businesses which are now in Việt Nam to seek investment opportunities.

These businesses operate in the fields of finance-banking, energy, construction, pharmacy, and foodstuff.

The Swiss business delegation’s visit aims to partly realize the agreements reached between the two countries during Deputy PM Hải’s visit to Switzerland last September.

Deputy PM Hải reiterated that the Vietnamese Government would create favorable conditions for Swiss investors to effectively conduct FDI projects in Việt Nam.

Swiss businesses showed their interests in the Southeast Asian country’s investment environment, particularly policies for private, foreign-funded sectors.

The Deputy PM briefed his guests on Việt Nam’s recent socio-economic developments as well as the Government’s measures to maintain a good economic growth.

Two way trade between Việt Nam and Switzerland reached US $3.2 billion, or a year-on-year increase of 17%. Switzerland has 80 projects capitalized at nearly US $2 billion.

Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai receives the Switzerland-VietNam Friendship Association

The Vietnamese Embassy in Switzerland on September 14 held a ceremony to mark the 40th founding anniversary of Việt Nam-Switzerland diplomatic relations.

At the ceremony, Deputy PM Hoàng Trung Hải, Swiss Economy Minister Johann Schneider-Ammann, Bern city’s Mayor Alexander Tschaeppaet, and Vietnamese Ambassador Hoàng Văn Nhã shared tge view that the event is important for the two governments and peoples.

Over the past 40 years, the traditional friendly and multifaceted cooperative ties between Việt Nam and Switzerland have been ceaselessly reinforced and expanded to various spheres, including politics, economy, trade, investment, culture, education and training, the officials said.

They expressed desires that in the coming time, the bilateral ties will develop further in all fields.

Earlier, the Vietnamese Deputy PM received the Switzerland-Việt Nam Friendship Association delegation headed by its Chairwoman Anjuska Weil. The Deputy PM hailed the association for acting as a bridge between the two countries and peoples.

On the samde day, Deputy PM  Hoàng Trung Hải received Ms. Doris Leuthard, Swiss Minister of Environment, Energy, Transport and Information, and formner Swiss President.

The two sides discussed issues ans solutions relating to bilateral cooperation in technical infrastructure and infrastructure, and confirmed their support for the introduction of mechanisms that encourage investors to do long-term business in each country.

On September 15, the Vietnamese Government delegation led by Deputy PM Hoàng Trung Hải  concluded their visits to Germany, Iceland and Switzerland.

First Vietnamese bank opens branch in Europe

The Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank) inaugurated its branch in the German city of Frankfurt on September 6, becoming the first Vietnamese bank to open a branch in Europe.

The event was attended by Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai, representative from the Hessen State government’s Prof. Dr. Luise Hoelscher, President of the Bundesbank’s Frankfurt Regional Office Hans – Joachim Kohse, and Vice Governor of the Central Bank of Vietnam Nguyen Dong Tien.

At the event, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai said that this activity is a vivid manifestation of the increasingly wide and effective co-operation between Vietnam and Germany in general, and between Vietnam and Hessen state in particular, marking VietinBank’s strategic move at the leading financial centre of Europe and the world.

VietinBank chairman, Pham Huy Hung said that the new branch is now ready to provide banking services to Vietnamese community, and individuals and businesses in Germany, as well as information on business opportunities in Vietnam, helping link international and trade activities between Vietnam and Germany effectively.

On the occasion, Deputy PM Hai also received representatives of Vietnamese businesses in Germany, Czech and Poland.

Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai urges speed up the construction of Cau Gie – Ninh Binh expressway

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has urged inferiors to speed up the construction tempo of Cau Gie – Ninh Binh expressway to put it in service in 2012.

Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai noted the importance of allocating capital to the first section of the expressway linking with Chằm Thị bridge so as it can be open to traffic technically in Q3, 2011.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment was assigned to coordinate with the Ministry of Finance to seek investment for the connecting section to National Highway 21.

The People’s Committees of Hà Nội city, and Hà Nam, Nam Định and Ninh Bình provinces where the expressway will run through were asked to speed up  site clearance works.

The project has a total length of 50.3 km with six lanes. It will begin at Km 210 on National Highway 1A in Hà Nội and end at Km 265+600 on National Highway 10 in Ninh Bình.

Cầu Giẽ – Ninh Bình expressway will has a speed limit of 100-120 km/h. In the first phase, the project will have four lanes.

So far, the project has disbursed 88% of capital investment and finalized 81% of workload./.
